Sweet Baby Lila – When Kayla from Kayla Couch Photography in Abilene, Texas contacted me in 2016 about the exciting news she was expecting in May 2017 I was thrilled, like … that feeling someone asking you to travel for their newborns photos when they could choose anyone is so dang special (or just do them themselves!) is humbling. It wasn’t until the bringing of 2017 we locked in the session and booked her May due date. We figured when I returned from Greece I would fly down to Texas and wrap up Lila’s newborn session when she was a few days past 2 weeks… no big deal. She had other plans though, after Kayla had literally just booked my flight for mid May, Lila arrived 3 weeks early. A surprise for everyone. I remember Kayla telling me she was so happy her little girl arrived beautiful and healthy but so sad that I wouldn’t be able to make it. 🙁 we were both sad and I didn’t know what to say. cliche, but truly bittersweet.
Before saying anything I knew I needed to make a few arrangements with current clients to make.this.possible! A few hours after her delivery I let her know I could fly down and my clients were totally understanding – lets make this work if you can, if you’ll still have me! (haha!)
I flew down the afternoon of Monday April 24th, gah.. I think Lila was only 6-7 days old? then I flew back the following evening with 5 days to spare before leaving for Greece. I’d like to think it worked out for the best, and so happy I could travel for this sweet family photos. As it is their last baby, I think we made it special for Kayla..being able to document her and give these beautiful newborn portraits with her IN them and her family together.
As you can seeeee…. choosing favorites for this blog was hard.. there are over 100 images (146 to bee exact)… so I picked my favorites and they’re sequenced from the beginning of the session to end 🙂
teeny-tiny thing!
DIMPLES! Baby dimples are *thee* best! (:
Being we are both newborn photographers.. we couldn’t resist bringing her outside for an outdoor newborn session! In the cacti !
