There’s something incredibly special about welcoming a new baby into the world, and this family of four brought all the sweetness into my downtown Occoquan studio. Their fine art newborn session was filled with tender moments, soft textures, and timeless setups that celebrated their new chapter together.
I’ll never get over how amazing it is to capture all the details in those first couple weeks of life.
From the eyelashes to the chubby cheeks, delicate fingernails and cute yawns. It never gets old.
For this session, we kept things simple and elegant. Mom and her two little ones wore pieces from the studio wardrobe. We picked creamy knits and lace that photographed beautifully under natural light. These soft neutrals paired perfectly with the warm, earthy tones throughout the session. We were going for the feel of warm connection throughout, and I think you can see that in the gallery.

Many parents love being styled in the studio, especially during those first few weeks after bringing a baby home. It takes the pressure off and lets you relax and soak up the moment. Every outfit, wrap, and prop was carefully chosen from my studio collection to complement one another. From the classic white family portraits to the sweet solo setups of baby wrapped in shades of sage, mustard, and navy. As a Virginia newborn photographer, I pride myself on making all the detailed decisions about styling so you can sit back, relax and actually enjoy your session, and your baby.
This sweet newborn looked absolutely peaceful in every setup, whether curled up in a knit blanket or dreaming in a tiny wooden cradle. Each scene flowed beautifully into the next for their final gallery, capturing both the fine art beauty and natural warmth my clients love.
