A Mother’s Word | Twin Newborn session

A Mother’s Word – Kate + Joel Recently delivered boy/girl twins and she’s sharing her story with you, enjoy!

It was such a surprise and a shock when Joel and I found out we were expecting twins at our first sonogram, but little by little we got used to the idea of twins! My grandmother, her sister, and my great great grandmother all had twins!

Every semester we a little different from the other. I battled morning sickness the first trimester. The second I was feeling better and by the third I was just feeling more tired. All in all the second was probably the most enjoyable!

I did not have a birth plan but I knew I wanted to see the babies as soon as I could after they were born and wanted to hold them. My husband was in the delivery room and it was great knowing he was there for support. My parents came the next day to meet the twins. All of the twins’ grandparents have met the babies-they love getting to know them and say how cute they are and what funny personalities they have. They say that Lauren looks just like me and John looks a lot like his brother Luke.

As a new mother, I’ve learned to take one day at a time and to try and get ahead of any tantrums or crying so it doesn’t spiral out of control! This seems to be working.

We were looking for someone to capture the innocence and carefree moments of infancy and Norma captured these perfectly! Her style and attention to detail is amazing, not to mention her patience! I never imagined how much patience is necessary in order to do one of these shoots, especially with two babies at once. But she handled it with grace and captured amazing shots we will treasure forever.

Seeing our images for the first time was really breathtaking. I couldn’t believe how raw, innocent, and beautiful the babies looked. I couldn’t believe they were my babies in the photos. And their poses are incredible. My family members wanted to know how she got them to stay in those poses. My biggest fear about our session was that we would be unable to get any good photos of the two babies together at the same time. But Norma put that to rest right away and easily snapped them together in great poses.

My favorite part of our newborn session for the twins was just watching Norma at work, once the babies had become very calm. Seeing the poses and the artistic side of taking their photograph was very interesting.

My Name is Kate, I love smoothies, especially from Robeks lately. My favorite vacation spot is probably the Carolina coast. I love running and horseback riding in my free time, but I probably won’t have much free time for a while but that’s ok!
